.anything two-wheels, travel, food, beauty, fashion and my personal musings.
I’m sure makeup junkies like myself would have heard that Too Faced has released their Chocolate Bar palette at Sephora outlets islandwide already which contains 16 eyeshadows from ivory to deep bronze in a varying array of matte and frosted textures. Along with this palette, Too Faced has also released a limited edition Too Faced Candy Bar All-In-One Pop Out Palette that comes with an iPhone 5 case which is what I got myself. Here is my first impression of the palette and a look I created using the palette.
Isn’t it just such cute packaging? This palette is an all-in-one makeup palette which contains 11 eyeshadows, a matte bronzer and a blush. 100 percent cruelty-free, this palette currently retails for S$34 at Sephora outlets.
Overall, I think the price point of this palette and its packaging is rather value-for-money. Highly compact, it is definitely something useful for travel which won’t take up much space in a makeup pouch, even for daily touch-ups. However, I found the pans quite small for actual use with a full-sized brush.
The quality of the eyeshadows are good albeit some might appear slightly powdery. Do be careful when dipping your brush into the pan as you might kick up a fair amount of product if you are too heavy-handed. Majority of the shimmer eyeshadows are smooth, highly pigmented and creamy with decent colour payoff whilst one or two of the matte eyeshadows require a tad more work to get good colour payoff. Here are the swatches from the palette. One thing that kinda annoyed me about this palette is how there are no names on the eyeshadows! Why do cosmetic companies keep doing this?
I love the shades in here. The softness of the ivory and pink tones are highly versatile. The eyeshadows blend really well and can be muted for a softer daytime look or built up for stronger night-time looks. My favourite has got to be the frosted rose-gold shade. I do feel that this palette is missing a matte transition colour, which would work well to marry all the colours together to create an even stronger palette than it currently is. Honestly though, I think this palette is a cheaper alternative for those who do not intend to shell out S$69 for the Chocolate Bar palette and want something similar that is cute and highly portable. Or this someone is a makeup
hoarder collector. 🙂
Here is a look I created with this palette. Shades used to create this look include:
Hope you enjoy this look and I do hope this first impression will be useful to those who might be considering to get this limited edition palette. I have thel limited edition Too Faced Jingle All the Way palette which was released as part of the Fall 2014 Christmas collection, which I will probably do a separate comparison blog post soon.
Thanks for looking!
