Long Phung Vietnamese Restaurant (Joo Chiat)

Mention authentic Vietnamese cuisine in Singapore and Long Phung is most likely one name to come up amongst the list of recommended places to dine. Back in 2008, I used to frequent Long Phung Vietnamese Restaurant located along Joo Chiat Road.

The place is owned and established by a Vietnamese and has been voted the best by both the local and Vietnamese community in Singapore. The astute interiors and simple menu is definitely not a good reflection of the food because the food is fabulous. Even the service is great. It was so good, I always returned for a hot bowl of Pho or their Phnom Penh noodles.

The place is constantly packed so if you do visit, remember to go early.

Recently, I visited the place again and was rather disappointed with the standard of food. The rice paper rolls had been pre-made and stored away for quicker turnaround. Although the food was still fresh, I didn’t think their Pho or Phnom Penh noodles were as fabulous as they were in previous years.

I’d have to agree with the comment about wavering standards with increased prices.
